Role: Design, Survey and Installation
Pilkington Planar structurally glazed entrance facade and door surround, internal glazed screens, and frameless glass door to the Devon and Cornwall Police Control Centre, Bodmin, Cornwall.
The job required a detailed survey, particularly for the back-painted glass entrance surround. The glass was button fixed to a steel structure that was fitted by the main contractor and needed to work with the revolving door system, which was not present at survey point, so required some careful design detailing and communication with the main contractor.
General arrangement, construction and full manufacturing drawings were produced by Simon and the survey, setting-out and installation of the fixings and glazing was led by Steve Ellis. This included the use of a crawler crane, in a very confined space to install the Pilkington Planar structural glazing.
